Series of Instant Photographs
Mother tongue is more than a set of words; it is the first heartbeat of the world we hear, the melody with which we name what is close, the refuge from which we build our identity. It is the language in which we learn to feel, to remember, and to belong.
My children were born in Germany, but Spanish is the language in which I tell them “Te quiero mucho» (I love you very much), in which I share memories, where the sea is still called “mar” and the horizon is a bridge between what has been lived and what is inherited.
This series of black and white instant photographs reflects that connection. Like memory, the images emerge with imperfections, with lights and shadows that evoke moments suspended in time. They are fragments of our family story, printed on sensitive paper, like the words that dwell within us.
These instant photographs invite reflection on the mother tongue as a latent image within each of us, an echo that accompanies us even far from home.
