Bio

I am Mariela Palmeri (Córdoba, 1976), a medical doctor, researcher, and visual artist. I grew up in Comodoro Rivadavia, in Argentine Patagonia, and studied Medicine and completed my doctorate in the city of Córdoba. During that time, I discovered photography as a way to explore the sensitive through a gaze trained to see the invisible.

Since 2010, I have lived in Europe and currently reside in Germany. I work with experimental photographic processes such as cyanotype and instant photography to explore identity in transit: the intimate, the everyday, and what is lost in translation.

I gather images from the margins, where fragility is also persistence. I am interested in what the image reveals beyond the visible. At this crossroads of languages and territories, I build a visual language of my own, attentive to minimal gestures, traces, and threshold languages, where memory and belonging intertwine.
